Most dry brushing is done with a flat-headed brush swept across raised surfaces to catch the edges. The Series 501 does something different. Its round ferrule and blunt, tightly packed nylon tip make it the brush to reach for when the technique calls for dabbing, stippling, or scrubbing rather than sweeping, a distinct approach that produces results a flat drybrush simply cannot.

Handmade in Yorkshire from stiff white nylon packed tightly into the ferrule, the Series 501 Stubby Round is 100% synthetic and vegan friendly. The stiffness of the bristles is intentional; it's what gives the brush its characteristic bite on textured surfaces, allowing you to work paint into recesses or stipple it onto raised areas with a degree of control that softer brushes lose.

Brush Care: If used correctly, dry brushes can be cleaned after each use by wiping off any excess paint and rubbing the brush on a hard edge, for example the corner of your drybrush palette. For deeper cleaning, use a brush cleaner or mild soap. Work it into the bristles, rinse thoroughly, reshape, and store flat or upright. The synthetic nylon is resistant to solvent damage, making the Series 501 suitable for use with oil and enamel products.
